Question: How is my lawyer paid?
Answer: What if I can't afford a lawyer? Most of not all personal injury attorneys work on contingency bases. The attorney gets a portion of the money collected for you. So the lawyer only gets paid when they win your case. Lawyers usually charge a one-third (33 1/3%) of the settlement or judgment.
